The Swiss Club Café is unique in many ways. Located at the entrance of the large GSIS (German Swiss International School) compound, it is nicely set in in the Club House of the Swiss Society of Ghana. A welcoming and cosy dining room opens on to a lovely terrasse and the garden.
The Swiss Club Café proposed a very affordable array of Ghanaian, continental and Swiss dishes and is patronized daily by the school teachers, students and parents, expats, including from nearby embassies, Ghanaians executives from offices on Ring Road and women from various expat associations.
You will find excellent home-style bread (including German) and pastries for take away.
Trained in Europe, Christine also provided catering to several embassies, corporations and events. Delivery and take-away are available as well.
NOTE: call ahead to verify opening times in the evening and as school vacations may affect services provided by the restaurant.
DIRECTIONS
The Swiss Club Café is conveniently located inside the German Swiss International School.
150m off Ring Road Central at Nima Junction. Turn into Nima at the junction traffic light (Nima Police station) and take the first left 30 meters further and left again. GSIS is right behind the office building.

- Food: what is on the plate is by far the most important factor. The quality of produce is among the most telling signs of a restaurant's culinary status. Use of seasonal produce and freshness is all-important too and a telling indication of quality. This means not only using fresh rather than frozen fish, for example, but also preparing everything from scratch at the last possible moment, from appetizers through desserts. Quality must also go in pair with consistency.
The quality of side items, like bread, matters too. Lastly, wine complements food, and wine lists and offerings can be revelatory. A list doesn't have to be long or expensive to show a commitment to quality. The house wine can speak volumes about the culinary attitude and level of an establishment.
- Service: keep in mind that customer service in Ghana is not at levels you may have been accustomed at home and that, due to the fact that many restaurants are new, training may have not yet brought full results. In your rating of Service, take also in account side issues such as the welcome you received, the quality of the toilets, parking, signage, access, etc.
- Ambiance: remember that higher-end restaurants are usually quiet places where « ambiance » is purposedly avoided. On the other hand, some lifestyle restaurants play the ambiance card as a full part of the experience offered to customers.
